Built In Parcel Box Guide

Michael installed his Smart Parcel Box during a workshop conversion. He decided that the perfect place for his parcel box would be underneath the window.
To fit the large front and rear access Smart Parcel Box, he sourced Imperial plinth and Cant red bricks from local reclamation yards. This helped to keep a natural look to the building once the project was complete.

Let’s take a look at the steps Michael took for his parcel drop box installation to help modernise the home.

Smart Parcel Box Wall Installation

From our customers’ lips to this very blog, here’s the step by step guide to the process of building a parcel box into your wall.

Step 1: Build a triple-leaf and leave a gap in the desired position. In Micheal’s case, this was underneath the window. Then, position the parcel box behind the outer leaf of the new wall.

Step 2: In front of the parcel box, build up the wall to one course below the drop-down flap.  This will ensure the parcel box can open and close.

Step 3: Lay the plinth bricks to the horizontal elevation before laying the cants to the vertical. This helps to create an opening for access to the letter box and parcel flap. Optional: Like Micheal, you can use the top of the box as a lintel before laying a course of blue headers to create the windowsill.

Step 4: Secure the parcel box on either side with screws/bolts. This can be done in the new brickwork for optimal security.*

Step 5: Optional: Michael purchased a kitchen wall cupboard which he cut down for the insulation and placed over the exposed back of the parcel box. This helped to create more of a discreet finish on the inside of the home.

*Please note that drilling new holes into your parcel box will void your warranty.

One easy way to spruce up your home is letting your parcel box peek out of your fence. You get all this discretion of a parcel box built into brickwork, with a lot less DIY. For an added bonus, choose colours that complement each other for your fence and parcel box colours.

💡Top Tip: Always leave delivery instructions so your postie can easily find the location of your parcel box. The last thing you want is a missed delivery!

Are you on the fence about where you should place your parcel box? Well, how about installing it… directly onto the fence? (Yes, that pun was intended). Not only does it look great, but it’s probably one of our easiest installation techniques.
