Safety Feature: A Look at Weather Resistance

Weather resistance is an important quality for anything in the UK to have. Sometimes, we experience several seasons in a day here in Britain. That’s why it’s important to find an external letterbox that can withstand this type of change. Rainfall, followed by sunshine, then a smidge of hail? The Smart Parcel Box will have you covered!

What is Weather Resistance?

Medium Parcel Box

Weather resistance is a term used to describe an object or material’s ability to prevent corrosion, deterioration or loss of material after exposure to harsh weathers and environments. However, it is important not to confuse weather resistance with weather-proof.

While Smart Parcel Boxes have been tried and tested prior to being sold, they are not completely impervious to a huge water downfall. For example, this also includes other harsh conditions. For this reason, it is always recommended to shelter your box when mounting it outside.

How are Your Parcel Boxes Weather Resistant?

All of our Smart Parcel Boxes, from medium to extra large, are made from galvanised steel. This includes a rust-resistant powder coating. This powder ensures that your box remains durable, weather-resistant and helps to prevent damage by rust. Every size and colour of Smart Parcel Box is coated in the same powder, making them all resistant to British weather.

Will my Outdoor Letterbox Stay Weather Resistant if I Paint it?

Extra Large Parcel Box

This will depend on the type of paint you use to paint your box with. We recommend using weather shielded paint for the best result. However, painting your Smart Parcel Box does void your warranty, and we’ll be unable to replace or refund the cost of your box in the event of weather damage post-painting.

That being said, as long as the correct paint is used, all should be well!

Will my Parcels Stay Dry if it Rains?

The short answer is: yes. For example, our parcel boxes can withstand normal rainfall. The top of the parcel box door has also been lined with a seal to keep water out as much as possible.

However, in the case of extreme weather, if your parcel box has not been sheltered as recommended, this can not be guaranteed.
